Oooof

The flippin pooter thing keeps trying to 'Poof' my ooof which does rather irritate me. Got the feeling this fella wasn't too keen on a full frontal as he rushed off, I use the term loosely here.

He did me a favour really - I quite like the resulting cropped imge

This day

What else does one shoot on a dreich day in Stormoway when you have a Minolta 505si/50mm f1.7 with Foma 200 in your bag? Eh. Tell me that?

I wasn't having the best day of my life

It wasn't the best day of my life when I processed this snap. Nor the worst either thank goodness but the day did rank low on my good days list. I'd not been feeling so well. My hands ached as did my tummy and my sinuses pained me. And that's the bits I am going to tell you about. Maybe this cold winter is getting to me. Maybe I need a change of scenery for a day or two. Just as well we are have a few days away booked soon. I am so looking forward to that.

Oh yes, I shall take a camera. And film.

I went down there

That was a nice day, the sun shone and it wasn't quite freezing.

Maybe the world will seem a sunnier place today.

I'm officially bored now

The snaps are nice enough but, oh so boring they are. Not sure why I'm snapping them up to be honest. All can say here is that is HP5 shot at 100asa by mistake.

See this house

Ooof, such a potentially nice house in a lovely location. I can even remember the gentleman who lived here a few years ago. On Harris.

Not sheeps

Well yes there are sheeps actually but that's not why I posted this snap. The sheeps are on a croft which still shows the lazybeds that helped the crofters feed themselves in this harsh environment. This on the east of Harris, a fine if rocky lunar-scape of a place where crofters were placed during the clearances after being cleared from the relative lush east of the island.

There are plenty of lazybeds to be seen here if that's your thing, I just liked the look of these. Taken with the OM1n/Kentmere 400.

Now look

A Soviet camera [Zorki 6 / Industar61 ] and some cheap as [and including some] dust film [polypan-f - doused in PQ developer]. And I can still make a mess of it. At least there were some telephone lines in the shot to spice it up a bit.
Down Harris way.

I wish I could remember why I wanted to show you this

It's not all a bed of roses

Dear reader [I am hopeful] please may I refer you back to yesterday's post. and now here you see this. eh? Took the snap from inside the car [passenger] as Toots drove us to Harris. Twas cold and wet. It wasn't at all hopeful and took a coffee and cake at the Harris Distillery cafe to restore out faith in the day. The rain stopped and the day was good in the end.

I couldn't help myself

As you well know by now, although how I don't know, I am not a landscapist. Yes I take snaps and yes I must admit they do often seem to feature the land in them. And here is the reason why; I can't help myself. "Hello, I am Andrea and addicted to snapping up whatever". And whatever round these parts when one is accompanying the great Toots on this weeks' project is the island here. You get out of the car and there it is slapping you in the face with all its whatever it has.

You'd do the same.

13th

The 13th eh? Must be why the whites are blown out, the black not black and greys only just.

These sheeps were posing down Harris way for that Toots fella while he twiddled this and that on his camera.

I'll think I'll go back to bed.

I wish Fay Godwin had been here

I rather like the work of Fay Godwin. She was here on the island once though not sure she saw this gate. I wish had, she would have made a better fist of the snap than I did.

I heard this lovely little song on t'radio today. What's that all about then?

Not what I intended

This bloggette was not meant to be a homage to my pal Toots Wilson and his photographising, neither was it mean to be a picturing-up of the island we live on. It just seems like it. I did envisage having a little more to say about photographising - but it seems to have slipped. Sorry about that.

almost a proper snap

Out o'er Bernera way with a Minotla 505si and F1.7 lens. Hp5 @ 800 and rodinal when I came home.
Was it worth it? Well, the trip was. I love that place accessed by a short bridge over the sea.

Pushed

This little snap was taken on Hp5 pushed to 800. Typically, the sun shone that day and it was only camera I had with me - an almost sharp Minolta af 50/1.7.
Pushing is not something I usually do since the film i often have available doesn't really like that [Foma400 or Kentmere400] Maybe I should bite the bullet and buy some hp5.

A neighbour in the snow

Was in the darkishroom at home again yesterday after a long sesh in Toots' darkroom the day before. Just a couple of Crofters prints for my keeping. Enjoyable though. I might have to do some more.

The snow has all gone here of course. As a filmster, i'm not always up to date you understand. Obviously I am ahead of my time in reality.

Ill advised

I am probably ill-advised to post this snap since when Eve sees it she will probably never let me take her snap again.

Advised

My adviser didn't like this snap either. The central figure was too central. I don't know why he didn't move to the side to be quite honest ! :-)

I seem to have an adviser

The un-named individual quite liked this snap but not the roofs behind the wall nor the branch on the floor. Pity, I do.

The snap came out of the XA camera from cheaper than chips Polypan-f film.

I'm not sure I am ready for an adviser. We'll see how it goes.

It's Monday today. Did you know that? Pity, I love Sundays for the radio. BBC Radio 3 particularly. If you have not heard Choir and organ, the listening service or Words and music then I suggest you put it in your diary.

Music of the day.

The most photographed up poles on the island

Just out the door of our wee housey the poles await a re-photographing up from time to time. I oblige.

Birds over the Lochen

This is my Japanese stylee.

I call this Birds over the Lochen but you can call it for what it is.

I was playing chemigrams in the warm rather than in the cold darkish room. A box of old Bromesko paper by my side, a paint brush, some gloves and a little water-soluble glue.

I have done this before and shall do it again.

In the meantime just getting over being accused of being a Cherry Bakewell tart !!
