Post mutterings

Bit of an epic yesterday. Toots Wilson invited me to accompany him to Harris [the bottom part of our island] for a bit of light snapping.  I took up the offer and we enjoyed the day, had a nice coffee in Tarbert and visited the Golden Road. As one does.

Only, we didn't get back home till 9pm as we bumped into our friend Moni who was beside the road near Tarbert with her non-working car. Of course we stayed with her till the mechanic came and then followed her car home up over the Clisham to make sure she got back safely. She did. W even managed to get a bag of chips to get up home :-)

Mutterings

I can hear the mutterings from here - and it's howling outside too.
'Why on earth.... '. I needn't write the rest.

I like snaps like this. Gives a purer idea of the place I think.

Have you seen

Have you seen the work of Kit Young? This snap above is not one of his but merely a poor pastiche of his stylee. I think. Go check it out, you won't be wasting your time. I'll just wait here hoping you'll come back to me again :-(

300

Although I do post on a fairly regular basis I do have nagging doubts at what I am doing. The photos are nice enough but do they mean anything to anybody?
Recently I have been helping mr Toots print some more images of his in his darkroom. Nice, but makes me wonder what I should print.
Before the persistent rain returned after a short hiatus yesterday, I did manage to shoot two 4x5s on Lucky 100 film I found I had. Nice enough too. I might even get Mr Toots to fire up his huge beast of enlarger and print big. I mean BIG.

Calm

I went to a fine mindfulness class the other day with Being Heather as part of an Lanntair's Ignite festival. To be honest I have had experience of these things before and they can loose me when they a re a bit off the wall. Heather started the session like that too and I was beginning to dread the rest of the two hours. But in no time it was ending and I realised I had been won over. Many thanks for a great sessions and so lovely to meet lots of like minded people [women only actually]'

I like cafes in the main. I like being able to sup and drink and watch the world go by..

Art

Oh, we saw Art big and small. Intentional and non-intentional art inside and out.

This Art was floating. I should imagine it floats fast o'er the water in a fair breeze.

I was wondering if Christo stayed here.

I have no idea

Why did I take this snap?

Maybe it was because the chicken crossed the road. Or because I liked the shape of things and thought I'd better record it until something better came along.

By the sewer works

Don't tell me I don't bring you the best bits.
You can just imagine the smell from the building behind there. I can anyway :-(

We walked here often , a short cut from there to over there bypassing the bit we didn't want to walk. It was fine. The graffiti great even a film crew one day doing a music vid I shouldn't wonder.

Apologies in advance

I seem to have taken a colour film the other day - in the less than perfect Viv UW&S. Oh well, I give you a proper holiday snap with my second favourite seagull thing. !

People seemed to have time to sit around here. Drink coffee and everything watching the peeps walk up and down in the shallow water.

I liked this little place.

Bier

Yes, they sold bier at this place. Not that this was one I bought I was just channelling Rax at the time.

Actually saw Scottish Brewdog beer for sale at a fine Vegi cafe one day. We didn't drink it preferring to taste and enjoy the local artisan stuff - the name of which escapes me but it was lovely.

I'll tell you where

If I could remember.
Might be Trogir. Nice place if it weren't for all the tourists - like us.
The people were not in this bit. You might have noticed that.
[excuse me while I sip my gin flavoured drink].
Lovely little city on an island with lots of boats and bars.

Luckily the Viv UW&S was at hand.  I really don't know why I bother with any other camera. I paid 99p for this little thing about 11 years ago. Good value I'd say.

I'll give you one guess

Was this the Stornoway ferry o'er the Minch or the ferry to Solta island.
No, wrong.
It was the ferry to Solta island and everything.

It might have been warm

That day we rode hire bikes from somewhere to elsewhere on the island. Solta island that is. Warmish anyway. We hid under a tree/bush in this lovely quiet village sans people. the village has a name but I can't spell it or pronounce it, now or at the time. In fact at the time the perspiration was in my eyes partially compromising my sight from having to hang on to my hired and dodgy ebike.

I did have the very usefully light and excellent [if everso slightly broken] Vivitar UW&S camera with me - although loaded with HP5 so a dark red filter was held over the lens' like aperture. It worked.

Josip

Makes a fine coffee and is an analogue photoist as well. Gave him a roll of HP5 to go with his new-to-him Loma.

I used the OM1n and KosmoMono 100.

Saturday, October 13, 2018

I know, it didn't look like that when you were there !

I had a ginger beer too many possibly. The rush of sugar had gone straight to my elbows and everything.

Friday, October 12, 2018

I hope you are enjoying the holiday snaps

So pleased I took the OM1n even if the lightmeter couldn't cope. It was the weather see.
Yes we went on an aeroplane and a bus plus a few ferries.
We might have had a lemonade too

We were between there and just there.

Just the mood I felt while we were there. Out the by the sea and everything. Dark ginnels, people in places. That sort of thing.
