plotting my downfall

Yes that's Toots - whom I don't get to see much these days - new playmate and all that - and darling Eve whom I get to see everyday.

Don't believe all you hear, those trees are on Lewis and the film is Polypan-f @ 200asa.

young Derek

This is my long loved pal from my dentistry days. I escaped but he still works at the bench covered in plaster and ceramic dust. He came with his wife Caroline up to Ormskirk to see Eve and I. so lovely.

Just back from a great evening at the An Lanntair arts centre for the monthy artists evening. good turn out too. talks by Photist [and maybe artist] Al Johnson, decorative artist Tom Hickman - whose wide ranging show is hanging in the gallery at the moment, poet Ron Coleman whose play is being put on at the arts centre soon and writer Tristan ap Rheinhallt. what an interesting evening it was/ Next one last Thursday in September.

stairs

whoa!
Writing this after returning from a fine evening with Eve and others at the Callanish Stones to hear the Nevis Ensemble play a few tunes. luckily it rained so we didn't have to put up with the ever-present midges they breed there and instead enjoyed the hospitality of the cafe there.

They started with what seemed to be a homage to Ravi Shankar's Concert for Bangladesh [yes, I am that old ! ]. then some music from some Mozart fella, and wonderful tunes inspired and from St Kilda that brought tears to the lady sitting next to me. then some more tunes and a lovely evening was had by all. thanks for the great time.

rain

Seem to have made a mistake here. Almost in focus and everything. Sorry about that, letting the side down.

The snap depicts the good weddingists, the prime movers - in this case the prof snapper, the bride and groom fleeing the corn field after spotting Theresa May coming the other way. It started raining too. Still, I think the prime snapper got his images.

cooling off

This was the cooling off cage at the venue when guests and others got over whelmed or too emotional or something. Surprisingly busy as it happens. And it wasn't even a trump owned venue.

the weeding

As it happens we were out of facinators, our hair styling had to remain uncovered - although did try to track down a couple of paper plates to do the job. I must say I liked this one styled like a birdcage with a white flying rat inside. Cool.

Did I tell you we are back home?

We are back home after negotiating what are the hell of mainland roads [and contributing to that hell]. We weddinged up Mr & Mrs Pardoe - which was lovely and, saw the Posse Ayrshire clan which was great. Visited the Irvine Maritime Museum, ate cake and got tired [then ate more kake]. Lovelee.

Since I specialise in wedding snaps, I did take a camera. I might have to show you a snap too.

Ok, here's one I prepared just now. No idea who it is but I think it was this last wedding.

boring, boring

So, do you think this bus is local or not?

Please don't mention the fact that we have been away. Does it show? Does my arse look bigger now? It should do since I've been sat in a car for years going and coming to Engerland to attend the Lovelee Pardoe's betrothal.

they passed by closely

yesterday we enjoyed a lovely stroll on the beach - as we have done most days this week. EVe seems to be getting into this retirement lark. Had a lovely trippette to south lochs to see William and Gemma and snap up the locality - as one does. you never know, I might even have something to show for it.

Gas cylinder with safety buoy

Lucrecia has pronounced.
This is rubbish! She didn't say that but I have translated it since she has been living in the westcountry England for far too long. "Will this be accompanied by other images ?" Lucrecia questioned. "I suppose it has a certain interest" she continued cutting me down to size with that sort of look one remembers from schooldays. I think I remember but it was a while ago. I can imagine at least. I am sure Lucrecia will make a fine teacher.

A snap with beauty from my Images of the island so you don't have to come series.

Managed a short bike ride this morning with Eve in the sunshine. On the old road bike since I had a less than enjoyable problem with the emtb. The front wheel came out while riding slowly uphill. not something I want to repeat so I am getting a torque arm for it.

Binscape on the westside

All the best binscapes come from the westside of the island. It must be the air. or the wind anyway. This is by the broch which is closed to be - not sure what really, re-roofed perhaps, or rebuilt - putting wifi in possibly. Anyway it was open this day despite me not going in. I was distracted by the bins - and who wouldn't be? Lovely placement. I've tried to replicate this type of placement at home on the east side of the island but we just cant pull it off like them westsiders.

Lucrecia

Phew!
Lucrecia has been here for a few days and i'm worn out already. Flipping heck she is getting more like her mother by the moment. Lucrecia is learning up some more photo darkroom techniques before she starts teaching it at some posh southern skool in September - one page ahead of the students and all that. doing me 'ed in I tell e. Pinholes snaps, developing, printing, lumen prints and chemigrams - some of which actually work !
Now I hear Mater and Pater managed to get on the ferry to here so they'll be here later. I am currently looking for the deepest pile carpet to throw myself off the edge of.

The snap is not of or by Lucricia but of dearest Eve who made my recent celebration of the day of my birth so lovely. new socks and everything !

fayre

The mechanical fayre came to Stormoway tother day. too noisy and too many yoofs for my liking but I passed by all the same taking this snap as I did. There was a carnival but we missed that.

Unwanted portrait

Toots and the disembodied hand.
He forced me to take the snap.

when one isn't enough

Now, go away and sit in a cool place and come back and tell me you like these snaps!

mr myres is back

Mr Myres is back on the island so I can continue my exploration of the 'unwanted portraits' theme. This time on Fuji Industrial 100 film.

duble truble

See, mainlanders I tell e. Eh? What's all that about then?
I think it was mainland anyway. One get to an age where one can't always pin things down as to where and when they 'were'.

They were somewhere and some when anyway.

Do you know this book?

This is a rather lovely book. The snaps are lovely and gifted to.me one birthday by dearest Eve.  well worth a look and I suspect the lovely Mhairi Law was drooling when I sent her the website link the other day .

out and about with the Cresta

The old Kodak Cresta got an outing in the sunshine with Eve caturing me within a Isle of Lewis binscape

Thursday, August 01, 2019

I found a roll of colour film down the back of the settee

and now you have the pleasure of me having exposed it.

Oooof!
Now I know you'll want some more of this loveliness. and even if you don't you might yet see some more anyway.

I think I shall call this one; "loneliness of a long distance life"
