Cloud

Have you noticed I haven't much to say at the moment?
That's because I haven't much to say at the moment.
And that's despite Norman the snail going feral.

Roads

Oh, the roads, the roads. Love em as they are. Not much traffic either and sometimes, just sometimes sunshine.

We shall miss them here

I'm meaning Mr Windy and Deanne who have now left the island after twenty plus years living on the island here. They are off to another part of Scotland where Deanne has much nicer and better job and Mr Windy is plotting more Audax events. I took the snap of Mr Windy last week - but I really didn't like the snap of Deanne I took. It didn't do her lovely looks justice - mainly on account of the snap being out of focus - and that with an AF camera. So I have included a previous snap from last year and here Deanne's loveliness shines through.

We wish them much happiness in their new location - and hope to visit them soon ..

The Wall

Yes, that wall again. My favourite wall actually, winding it's way across Bhaltos. It is, without doubt, divine. I introduced Mr Toots to it the other day and he pointed his 5x7 at it.

around there

  No campervans.
No deck chairs or ice creams.

And a lovely place to be. To just be.

Of course I had been here before, only not looked out this way much and I wish I had. Is interestinating and what have you. Walls, roads, and rocks. Eh? What's not to like?

Harris

I love Harris. For those who don't know, it's adjoined to the island of Lewis where I live although its landscape is somewhat different. At the moment I have been taking a few trips down there with Mr Toots who is documenting the place for a wee project he is putting together. I go along for the coffee, cakes and occasional snapping up. this is one of my snaps from such a trip.

Here the rock is old. Have a look at this for that info. It looks old anyway. Lots of erratics around the place too. Very exciting if like me you have a geographical education - even if you can't remember most of it. Consequently, i'm not sure what is here in this snap - hills and stuff probably.

Needless to say it is a rubbish snapped as it's pushed film developed in PQ universal developer.

When you have a friend who wants to use a 5x7 camera in a gale.

By the way, it seems like some Boxes and Bellows / Island Crofter blog groupies have been around the village recently. snapping up the crofters gaff and what have you. at least someone is looking at this stuff.

yes, I have been doing stuff

I did do this pinhole paperneg [inverted on pooter] the other day down Harris way on a little day out with The Toots. Love the house and the location :-)

I have been doing her stuff but not writing about it if you have noticed. I have a right to a life you know!

I'm trying not to drive the car so much, fly about the globe or consume so much so I can try and do a bit for our ailing biosphere.

flower print

Been messing about. Took this snap with the Bronica, std lens ans close up lenses held in front. Film was Foma100 developed in good old Rodinal. Printed that [11"x 11" ] in the presence of Toots in his nice darkroom using a piece of his old Forte cold tone paper which I then sepia toned. Nice eh?

Bigger negs

5x7 neg eh?
Yup, dug out a neg carrier and some old Shanghai 100 film then went out with Toots for a wee trip down the island. This was on the way back between the showers and hiding Toots' 5x7 camera out of the cold gusty wind behind the car.
Developed the neg in PQ developer then contact printed onto Ilford MGRC. Nice eh>

Seaforth Loch and seafood van.

We have Tulips

This is one of them lurking above others.
In black and white. I prefer them that way.

And before someone ask I used a standard lens on 6x6 medium format with close up lenses held in front

This is where ....

This is precisely where 'it' crosses over from there to here and a mountain top pops out to have a look.

Sometimes I stop on the way back from work

I might as well stop and take a snap. I don't 'do' landscapes but I should feel I should show you what I have to put up with. If you want to visit, come up on your bicycles or hire them when here.

I'm there so you don't have to be

I'm there for work so I can snap it up while I'm there. You look and say "ahh" and that helps prevents a sea of campervans and leaves the road clear for the sheeps to sleep on and the cyclists to use.

It was time to take another snap

Most days I feel obliged to take a snap. This day I used 35mm and three stacked close-up lenses. Because I can. Some sort of leafy thing.
