We await with bated (baited?) breath....Wonder which language that word came from...and is it used in any other context? Just musing
gz that is quite odd. Recently I used the same word (with the alternative in parenthesis too). I looked it up to see which was correct and discovered it's from Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. It's 'bated' - a shortened version of 'abated'.
