This is not my snap but that by the late James Ravilious. I think you'll agree it is superb and worth seeing.
I cannot recommend Mr Ravilious' work enough. Go take a look and perhaps acquire a book.
If I could make one image in my life just half as good as this I would be happy indeed.

I like his work. Wasn't that familiar with it, but can see how a person would want to be like him in making photos. I would certainly be a happy camper in making one like his.

Two names that come straight to mind.
All black and white...which is odd, as life is never black and white
Ansel Adams is a different kettle of snails. No so keen although I recognise his skills.
It's the way that Ravilious cPtures the old countryside and the light.
Spot on with James Ravilious and the light, who photographed with uncoated lenses to keep that soft light quality apparently.
Tony Ray-Jones was probably my first British photo hero around 1970 for showing that you can make a photograph from the ordinary. Well, he could but I couldn't.
Then the Co-Optic group, which included Nick Hedges (Shelter housing campaign. See his book from Bluecoat Press) and Sirkka Lisa Kontinen (Byker and Girl on a Spacehopper fame).
And I also like to see what that grumpy woman from the Isle of Lewis is up to.
