On what apparently was a rubbish tip many moons ago, the Stornoway Bowling club have a fine bowling green. And in the recent dryish weather it's running well - even I can get my bowls to the far end of the rink albeit not in the right place. However, the thought is there.
If you don't know what bowls is all about; there's a little white ball and other balls you roll at it for some reason. Only, you are somewhat handicapped by your bowls not usually going straight or, some other bowlist knocking your nearly perfectly placed bowls out of the way. Not quite sure what the purpose is - perhaps that's why I never win. However, the tea and biscuits are great.
BTW; the webpage is in the process of being up-dated - as is it's Facebook page.

Outdoors at last!
So, as I see it, you use maths and physics to try and place a large ball as close as you can to a small ball. Then, if some thug from the other team doesn’t like what you did they can use brute strength to bash your balls out of the way so that you don’t win. Then you all get together over tea and biscuits?
Ummm
That's it. You got it!
