We had been to a community cafe, met some people we knew and talked a bit. A lot actually then passed the unfinished house on the hill, past the houses by the waters edge then up a steep narrow road to the beach. That's the sort of thing we do these days.
The weather was nice. The beach was really quiet with the waves behaving themselves and the bell in the water unrung. We were there at the opening too but as yet have not heard the bell ring.
