Then there was one

Two I suppose with me. Tall type people from another world. Looking and everything. We saw it.

Them there hills were still there when we left that day. Saw them later looming over our resting place. Just as well I had a little camera with me so I could capture that very moment. It's not like that now. The clouds are different, there's probably been a rockfall or three and the air has changed.

There's another photographiser visiting the island up here in the windy cold north. I shall post a link to her work when I have one.

Not one

No one here. Or there I must say seeing I now repose here again. This was an abroad place. With no-one there. Not a soul, or maybe there was a soul but I didn't detect it there. It must have been keeping itself to itself. And I think I would too. There anyway.

We liked it. The concrete construction, the state of steady decline, the mist that whispered around our ears that day.

Abroad place

We strolled here. Past the snoozing cats that probably run the place - an abroad place. Past the crippled dog, the this and that. We took it all in till there was nothing much left.

Saw a fish too. Nothing fancy but black big black with scadaberous teeth nestling in its home - a white box -with its family. In Ice. Yes, there was ice. And not in Gin.

I may not have been here

I might have left the island - just for a while to recharge. That sort of thing. Soak up the rain somewhere else, check out the boats, cats and dogs and possibly people if their languages match mine - or their grasp of excessive hand waving is good.

I might have.

I'm in an abroad place with only two small, cheap cameras!

And one of these cameras is a Pentax Espio 170sl. Eh? Cheap as half a bag of soggy chips these days. Throw some film in, dodge down to see The Crofter and there you have a nice-ish image.

That creature at the front is a pig. A boy pig I'm told. The creatures behind are girlie coows - in the family way and all that. I think they must have been sneaking a kiss - on Valentines day!

Again

I know it's HHHCB again. She is wonderful and deserves the exposure although one has to admit she doesn't look too sure about the paparazzi here.

Here she is

This is Eve, my dear partner, civil partner, her loveliness herself  tickling her toes before departing on her mechanical moving device she loves. Note the training tights. Eh? They were mine now pinched by Eve. I always was at the cutting edge of fashion.

Sunday, February 15, 2015

I can never resist a snap of HHHCB - except when she has just opened an artery in my arm!

Oh, how lovely she looks here. All dainty and kind. She radiates wonderfulness, smells just divine and has claws that could kill. And probably do.

Valentines and all that

Here are A Happy Couple and everything. And no I'm not referring to the chickens in the cages at the back of the exclusive studio!

You'll need to look here for more info. Or here perhaps.

Why have I posted this here? Well, it is meant to be a photography blog and this here is a print I 'did' the other day on old Forte Polywarmtone. Not much of that left either!

PS. They've only gone and got engaged today! Congrats and all that!

This I tell you, is not a dog. Not even a deaf one

It is Her Highness Henrietta Cartier-Bresson, the black and white cat of this parish who was making sure Eve left the premises for a while on her mechanical wheeled moving device so HHHCB could torment me into giving her some more food and Eve not know of it!

2008

This was, if my filing is up to much - and it isn't - 2008. Snow and everything. Pretty, but thank goodness we have not had this much this year.

I was on a colour thing at the time - it only lasted a few weeks till the costs overcame my income! I can understand why people regress to dig*tal.

Dog. A deaf dog

Nice doggie.

It is a nice doggie but a noisy barking one - which suprises me since it's deaf. Mr Crofter man, a nice man whose name escapes me, whose dog inhabits the same croft as the doggie communicates by hand signals with him. The man does too the dog, not that the dog does. I know what I mean anyway.

Which one?

I always have this issue; deciding which camera to take on holiday with me. I know i am taking the Olympus XA2 because it's small and precise, black and light. But somehow I can't manage with just that so perhaps I'll take the old Minolta AF or the Zorki4. Who knows? Not me yet as I'm bound to change my mind at least three times before we go next week.
Oh, shall I take a pinhole camera or a Holga?

Argh!

See that? Mum and Dad

They are not with us anymore but I do have the neg - somewhere. So I printed it - sometime.

Lovely isn't it? On their honeymoon I believe.

Festering

Oh how lovely it is when you unearth a print that has been festering in the corner of the Summer Parlour when you start to have a clear up? It is since you ask. Found this masterpiece today and just love it. I even know what it is a snap of, not that it matters.

Japanese handmade paper

No, no this is not printed on Japanese handmade paper!

Actually, it is now. Just not this particular picture. Well, to tell you the truth it is this image - or most of it but this isn't the actual print even if it is the original image. Got that?

Ok, I am still wasted - bruised and what have you too after yesterdays shenanigans and this morning's chi kung. You don't expect me to think clearly do you?

The thing is with Japanese H-M paper is that it's 'interesting'. Interesting in a way that makes printing on the stuff tricky. I came across some paper I'd pre-prepared by coating with hand-melted gelatin and then  home-made VanDyke emulsion so shoved it under a UV light and now I have some images - of some sort. I might show you them one day. When they are dry and if they ok.

Yes, this is The Crofterhttp://islandcrofters.blogspot.co.uk/ and Gemmima posing in their 'studio'. ahem.

I'm wasted!

See here

By the time you read this....

I hopefully have the wee boatee out of the water - or be in the process of getting it out - or willhave fallen in or worse!

My ever helpful and lovely neighbours have come to the rescue since The Crofters' pimpmobile is out of action and have offered to help me get the boatee on the trailer and tow it back. How good is that? I shall tell you about it soon.

In the meantime, I show you a snap of one of my neighbours mending a ,,, thing in his garage. A very handy man to have around  I'd say. Especially if you have a ..... thing!

The Crofter + 1

See, I can post this here because The Crofter doesn't look here and neither does Gemma. Took their snapity thing the other day. I would tell what day it was but it was Sunday and someone might get uppity round here for some reason. Ah well, it wasn't 'work' but merely feeding their egos and that's allowed me thinks.

Typical, they look in opposite directions when I say snipity snap or fromage or something. Just hope this is not a foretaste of things to come. No, I'm reliably told it's Gemma and The Crofter working together to make sure that Widdle, the incontinent home based sheeps doesn't get in on the act.

It used to be the Danes and Ices [or whatever they are called]

Now it's the French and Spanish I'm told. Come here drinking our beer and enjoying our weather while pinching the fish - if they can find any. They are still wimps I'm told - running to harbour at the sign of  wee swell in the sea.

Oh well, listen here perhaps.

Brave little soldier

So brave that Toots. Going out in all that snow stuff just to get the coal so he can snuggle up by the fire with a glass or two of red and choci biscuit. So brave.

CX

While the World Cyclocross championships are on in Tabor, Czech Rep. I give you my fav CX image. From the great Robert Doisneau and taken in Gentilly 1947. Just love it!

It's all about the shapes for me. And the mood.

Probably taken with a Rolleiflex, not a Leica!

Look for results of the World Championships here.
