Harrrrrr! and all that sort of thing

How is that for a view to while away your working day. If you have any energy left after pedalling a metre or two of Tweed, feeding the sheeps and cooking the tea. Eh? It's down Lemreway way.

"HARRRR!"
Oh yes, it's where the Viking and his lovely wife work, keep Icelandic sheeps and smile a lot. And why shouldn't they? I took Ms Lucrecia Olivia Flynn Hunter, a fashion / editorial photographer down there to see them. That's the sort of thing I'm known to do. I mean, The Croation Man from Croatia visited there after all.

Ms photographer got distracted though. Wanted to feed the sheeps. Tickle their noses and smile at the Viking. Keith the Viking. Did I not tell you he was a Keith?

This is Keith The Viking with Mr Hunter, Lucrecia Olivia Flynn Hunter's assistant/driver/funder. I would show you a snap of Ms L-O-F-Hunter but she'd probably take a contract out on me, so I won't.

We had a fine time all the same. Many thanks to Viking Keith and Liz.
And William and Gemma too who made us most welcome.

The epitome of a modern Viking

The venue is right. The sheeps are right - Icelandic and lovely too. The man is right. Fierce looking but lovely. I mean, really lovely. Welcoming and what have you with a couple of beard rings.

This was out over Lemreway area. We'd been to see The Vikings loom shed, marvelled at the view, The Croation man from Croatia took some snaps, William wandered here and there. This might be Mr Viking telling us about Clara - his bestest sheeps. Or not.

They may be Icelandic but they know how to pose all the same. They will produce wool so The Viking and his partner can spin it and produce cloth. Nice eh? That is if the world doesn't end before the end of the week - not that I'm feeling pessimistic or anything.

Oh look. Please, somebody give him a longboat to play in!

And to the Viking

See, I even took Mr Denis the Croatian from Croatia out to see Keith the Viking and his sheeps. Denis snapped him up.

Must pop over to see the fine Viking again in the not too distant. Haven't see him in ages.

As you well know, I don't 'do' landscapes

This just happened. I think I might have got over enthusiastic in enthusing Ms Hunter to get the landscape done. I pointed the camera out of the window of the car just to show how it is done and it inadvertently went off. Sorry and all that.

Now that's better. Proper portrait of a Viking in a place with added sheeps. And snow. Very impressive bit of sheeps leading I have to tell you. Keith the Viking sure has a way with his beasts. Perhaps it was the food in his hands. Mmm, possibly.

Keith the Viking

Have not seen The Viking for ages. Hope he is well and busy too. These snaps were from 2015 . How time flies.

I do hope they are doing well out there in South Lochs area. Reminds me I must go down that way again soonish.

The Viking

I hadn't seen Keith the Viking and his wife Liz for a while but I was so pleased to see them playing sheeps-herders with their Icelandic sheeps on their croft in Lemerway.  I snapped them up again just for the plleasure of doing it.

Tweed

Anyone know about Tweed? I know a bit. We are surrounded by the stuff up here. Weavers all over the place including here in the village. Yes, we live on Lewis and the tweed up here is called Harris Tweed. Virtually all the weavers for Harris Tweed are on Lewis - makes sense doesn't it!

Even Keith The Viking weaver is on Lewis. The mills are on Lewis too. That's where the cloth is finished. Woven in the weavers at home and finished in the factory then sold to the world.

There's a posh tweed shoppe in the toon - Stornoway that is - but I can't afford to look in there. But there's hope as there is the Lewis tweed centre [or something like that] on Bayhead located up a ginnel in an old decrepit building. It's great inside though. Mr Man is very interesting, the place is full of 'stuff' tweed. So took the girl Olivia Lucrecia Flynn Hunter to see him with her handler Dad Hunter.

This was then.

ticket head [atm]

No, not this wonderfulness of hair belonging to a Viking maiden but me'ed. The photoness of me'ed is misconstructed, tangled, unconnected or whatever. Either way I don't seem to be able to 'see' snaps, let alone make them. My film development looks like I have developed in muddy ditch water and the imagery is terrible. Even the blurrs are wrong.

I shall persevere though. for a while.

The Minch

Yes, I'm late posting this. Sorry and all that. Eve & I were gadding about o'er the Minch in Inverness, living it up looking at prints in the Print place by the river there, sitting outside cafes in the sunshine, Walking about a bit and buying another art book. I wasn't going to buy the book but I just couldn't help myself. Must get some therepy!

The other day I took this snap of The Minch as I waved to photographist and seafarer Roy Kalsvick  - you can see his excellent blog here - as he pootled up the sea bit in his wee boatee Subsea Viking. The flippin thing looks huge in the pics online but I think they must have thrown an invisability cloak over the thing as, despite seeing it on AIS outside on the watery bit, I couldn't see a boat at all. Ah well, such is life! Hopefully, I'll meet Mr Roy somewhere in the future.

A Smart idea

What to do with a little German car that costs too much to mend? Turn it into a hen-house.
Nice work by the Viking in South Lochs.

"Harrrrrr" or something equally pantomime

Vikings eh?

We've had more than our share of Viking types here recently. There was one lot straight out of panto who shouted Harrrr a lot and waved faux axes and shields around, wore leather and slept on blow-up mattress! Blow-up mattresses? Are you sure? Why didn't they sleep on straw or something. Can't be proper Vikings can they?

Then there were the Nordic Vikings who sailed into port in their 120 ft long longboat. Now these are proper Vikings surely! Lovely wooden boat, sleeping on the bottom of the boat under canvas and not a 'Harrrr' among them. I mean, even the huge mast broke on one voyage and they still kept going - found another tree and now they are off again!

I mean,,,,,,

Proper mast that

And a proper boat.

Harrrrr !
See, didn't even flinch
